    Loopt in the iPhone

Some of you might remember that we have written about Loopt in July last year (here) already but we would like to introduce Loopt to the rest of you because Loopt is the proof that we are living in a new era. Loopt is a mobile phone application, which acts like a social network (incl. groups, chats, etc.), the difference being that your current location is indicated on a map and you can see the location of your friends on that same map in real-time. Needless to say that the notion of people/companies tracking your whereabouts 24/7 is more than frightening but finding Apple promoting its iPhone Application Store with Loopt is even more fascinating. This is how far you can go in one year with people-tracking technologies.

I agree with you Tom. I am still waiting for the day that Loopt is connected to google street view in real time and that you can watch/stalk your american friend with google earth flight simulator (to see how the flight simulator works go here: http://www.eeggs.com/items/51031.html). I am not sure whether I ever mentioned it but I saw a presentation of Yogev Triki once in Munich in Jan 2008 and the company AtlasCT is working on their real-time geo-photo-tagging technology reLive! (http://relive.abmaps.com/) (quick explanation: a GPS attaches the exact coordinates to a photo when it is taken, which is then uploaded automatically to a map in real-time and fixed to that exact location where you took the photo. To put in a nice way, your parents can follow you on your holidays by seeing your holidays through your camera lens. to answer your question on how the uploading works is that you can already by Wifi memory cards that can connect your camera to your internet capable device like your phone). It wouldn’t surprise me if the iPhone would start using that too.
