The T-Mobile G1 smartphone has been on the shelves in the UK since November. It is the first phone to be supported by Google’s mobile operating system, Android. I had been hearing mixed reviews about the phone, so I decided to give it a try myself this weekend!
At first I thought the G1 was simply another touchscreen phone, but I was wrong. The Google phone has both a touchscreen and a sliding full keyboard for easy typing. And to help with navigating through the phone, there is also a rolling ball similar to those found on the Blackberry.

The only drawbacks to this phone are its lack of video capability and aesthetics. The phone does have a 3.2 megapixel camera, but you cannot take videos with it. And I’m a sucker for the sleek design of the iPhone – in comparison, the new Google phone is rather clunky.
But, despite these drawbacks, Time Magazine named the phone one of the best inventions of 2008! And I would have to agree. It is very easy to use and the operating system gives you a taste of the next generation of smartphones powered by internet giant, Google. I would definitely recommend the T-Mobile G1! Check it out today in black, bronze, or white!
