I’m back again with February’s Ant Product of the Month, and this time I have found something for all you lovers of the Nintendo DS, an ant DS game!

Ant Nation brings the beloved childhood pastime spent with a magnifying glass and an ant farm to the portable video console, so no more worries about the glass breaking and your ants escaping!

Ant Nation allows you to train little ants (no doubt some relations of mine) to be soldiers and survivors against all odds! You can make them stronger by tapping them with the stylus and torching them with a match to build heat resistance. You are also able to design and build the colony to withstand natural disasters, in the end these little guys will be able to withstand anything!
London Fashion week is about to start again, a window in to the wonderful world of fashion and glitz and the place where fashionistas go to be the first to get their hands on next season’s look. It will be taking place between the 19th and 24th of February, with a special day on the 24th for menswear. London Fashion Week is a bi-annual event which this February will be showcasing on the catwalk the Autumn/Winter collection 2010.
This London Fashion Week will however be a bit different as it is the first time that the events will be available for all to watch via live stream. LFWs “Digital Schedule” will allow London designers to stream their shows live at www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/digitalschedule.
London Fashion Week is an unrivalled opportunity for designers to present their latest collections. There will be 68 designers in all on the catwalk, including both new comers such as Christopher Kane and Richard Nicoll as well as the old favourite iconic British designers like Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and Betty Jackson. There will also be 29 designers showcasing their collections as part of the dedicated presentation schedule and feature salon-style shows by designers such as Mulberry.
We have decided to join in with all the catwalk fun here at letsbuyit.co.ukand suggest a few designer clothes for you from some of the designers featured at LFW.
It is that time of year again! Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Pancake Day, has arrived; so it is time for you all to get mixing that batter and tossing those pancakes for one of the most yummy events of the year.
Pancake Day is celebrated as it is the last day before the Christian season of Lent, a period of 40 days and nights before Easter. Lent is a period of abstinence before all those Easter Eggs, so Pancake Day is the last chance to indulge and use up all the butter, fat and eggs which would traditionally not be eaten during this time.
We all know that getting the right consistency of the pancake and tossing it so it doesn’t end up on the ceiling or the floor can be a bit tricky but here at letsbuyit.co.uk we have found a couple of things to make it all a little bit easier.
The Apple Magic Mouse is a revolutionary new addition to the mouse family and is the world’s first multi-touch mouse. It has a delicate yet sturdy bridge-shaped slim line design, a bit like a bar of soap! There are no buttons but one piece of clear plastic on the top which is touch sensitive enabling a new level of scrolling and clicking using the whole surface of the mouse.
Apple Magic Mouse
You can use both right and left clicks and the ambidextrous construction allows you to inverse the function to make it great for both righties or lefties. But on top of that, the construction of the Magic Mouse allows you to scroll through pages and use any amount of fingers at one time. By using two fingers you can flick through photos or web pages and scroll 360 degrees around the page by making a circle on the mouse. You can also click with one finger and scroll with another, letting you highlight blocks of text like you would on a normal mouse.
The mouse is easy to install and carry with you which makes it great to use with laptop computers as well as desktops. It connects using Bluetooth so you no need for any extra wires and is also powered by 2 AA batteries with up to four months use per charge.
It uses standard laser technology for tracking, which means, although it works on most surfaces, including jeans and chairs, it will not track on more glossy surfaces like glass. However it does glide well along the table top thanks to the two plastic bars on the mouse’s underside that minimize contact with whatever surface it is on.
Watch this video to see it in action.
Microsoft has also recently brought out a new product to the mouse market which, differing slightly to the Magic Mouse, it concentrates on lightness and ergonomics. The Microsoft ARC benefits from a unique appearance and collapsible design which works very well with laptop computers. You can also use this mouse with your left or right hand and is designed to make it comfortable either way. An extra benefit with this mouse is that it can be used with either Macs or PCs.
As you know I am user of both Facebook and Twitter and so I have been very interested in the announcement of the new social networking feature from Google: Google Buzz. It is in the early trial stages at the moment with about 1% of Gmail users testing it. I have being weighing up the potential advantages and disadvantages of Google Buzz to see if this will be a new way I can communicate the LetsBuyIt news with you, or whether it will be swallowed up by the dominant Facebook and Twitter.
Firstly a little bit about how Google Buzz functions…
• Google Buzz works in conjunction with your already established Gmail and is a new feature to share your status updates, photos and videos with others.
• It is slightly less time consuming to set up as it automatically follows people you chat and email to the most frequently.
• It also gives you the option to post your updates privately or publicly, so if you do not want the world to see what you are up to you can choose a select group of people to inform.
• You can also share content from other sites such as Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and Picassa.
• It will recommend content from people that it thinks you may like to see and incorporate it into your newsfeed.
• Status added from mobile phones will record the location of the sender on the message, you can see what other people are saying around you.
Here is a video introduction to tell you more:
I have looked at some pros and cons of the new Google Buzz to try and compare.
Pros
• One major plus is that it is integrated with Gmail so it already can capitalize on regular Gmail uses (about 176 million)
• It can also use Gmail to access your most frequently talked to friends so you don’t have to add them manually.
• You can post public or private status updates.
• Twitter is already linked to it.
• Public updates will also be added to Google Places, a directory of businesses that include reviews of restaurants and theatres, for example.
• It is still in the early stages and can be developed- things can be changed!
• Google executives said that Buzz would help tackle the problem of information overload, as Google would apply its algorithms to help people find the information most relevant to them
Cons
• Why would people want to use Google Buzz when they already have Twitter and Facebook?
• Gmail is usually used for personal mail, but people often use their personal e-mail to communicate with co-workers and may not want to share their statuses with them, could get some people into trouble!
• Google already tried the social networking thing with”Orkut” which failed under the popularity of Facebook.
• Does not offer any integration with facebook as it does with Twitter.
• There does not seem to be any character limit with Google Buzz which could make things a bit cluttered after a while.
• Facebook has 400 million users compared to 175 million of Gmail, it does not seem like Google Buzz will be able to overtake this giant!
Is Google just trying to keep up with everyone else and trying to wheedle their way into the social networking market with this offering? And will they be able to match or even come close to the success that Facebook has mananged to achieve? Is there even space in the market for Google Buzz or will people just continue using Facebook?
These games will be the 21st Winter Olympics and the third Olympics hosted by Canada, so to celebrate the Canadian hosts of Vancouver we have travel guides, a flag and even maple syrup!
We also have plenty of winter gear to keep out the cold and various video games to do with snowboarding and skiing, including the official Winter Olympics 2010 video game. So even though England may not have the climate for the games you can still pretend to take part in the winter sports from the comfort of your own home!
