Update: Hidden Internet Jokes & Yieeha

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

First of all we would like to share some more hidden internet jokes that we have found. There is quite a range of Google jokes or hoaxes that somebody dedicated an entire WikipediaGoogle Hoaxes” article to them. For more jokes or Easter Eggs, as they are also called, check out the site eeggs.com. Back in the days Microsoft used to be quite funny and there were hiding quite a lot of easter eggs in their programs like Excel but that has been reduced because people were complaining about the waste of resources (how mature!).

Secondly we have noticed that the Ebay Sale of the Online Shopping Community Yieeha (we have previously reported) has come to an end at the stunning selling price of EUR 24.550,00 incl. VAT. The Sale has not been commented on their blog as of now (no new entry since June 23, 2008) however the average sale price of 2EUR per registered user is definitely not very satisfactory but it was definitely worth a try. There are not that many Shopping Community Sites for Sale on Ebay to compare with but our feeling is that the price could be more!

Web 2.0 is all about openness and freedom

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Web 2.0 is all about openness and freedom,” said Kris Lamb, a director with IBM’s Internet Security Systems, in an interview at Interop. “You’re really tearing down the traditional barriers that have kept companies safe. What does security mean for Web 2.0 when you can’t make really clear distinctions between ‘this is what we allow to happen,’ and ‘this is what we don’t allow.’”

As more companies deploy cool Web 2.0 technologies, careful planning is required to avoid new kinds of security problems.
Web 2.0 isn’t just for the likes of MySpace and YouTube anymore. Mainstream companies are catching the fever, ramping up their Web sites and creating communities of their customers.

The only problem is, they might be rushing headlong into something that could put their network — and their customers — at risk.

They’ve got to think about security,” said Lamb. “It can’t be an afterthought. It has to be part of a larger decision-making process If it’s not, there’s a lot of risk.

How do you (or your company) deal with these issues?

Being a PowerUser?

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Have you noticed that since the web2.0 concept and the fact that every websites is trying to create and develop a community, the content you can find on the internet is not as organized as it could be. How can you deal with the flow of information that is created by the users?

The Citizendium, a “citizens’ compendium of everything,” is an experimental new wiki project. The project, started by a founder of Wikipedia, aims to improve on that model by adding “gentle expert oversight” and requiring contributors to use their real names.

In other words, they are creating different levels for the contributors. Some of you can reach the “PowerUsers” status while other may just remain “simple contributor”.
