Well, in this domain, we have to recognize that Amazon does a VERY good job in customizing its website according to its users profile. Indeed, it directly shows you a personalized home page, with very customized items:

• Category of products you’ve been buying before
• Category of products you’ve been visiting before
• Products similar to what you’ve bought before

They even tell you, on a product page, what people ultimately buy after viewing this product:

“Tell us what you like, we will tell you where to travel” is the baseline of this brand new travel website: TripBase.

TripBase has a nice way to ask questions about its users and know more about them without making them fill in a long and boring web form.

Once the user specified its preferences, TripBase returns destinations matching the best with his profile:

While the quality of returned results can surely be optimized, we like this kind of user interface and we were actually thinking about using the same kind of system to know more about our users, in order to improve products we will push and recommend to them.
