Toshiba recently announced two new laptop computers like we’ve never seen before, the Toshiba Satellite T110 and T130.

These are the first Toshiba laptops to use Intel CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) processors, giving the laptops the functionality and performance capabilities of full sized laptops with a longer lasting battery life.

The T110 features an 11.6 in screen whereas the T130 will feature a 13.3 in display. Both will have 1366×768 pixel resolution, 802.11n Wi-Fi, six-cell batteries with an incredible 11 hour battery life, HDMI video outputs and the new Windows operating system, Windows 7.

Another great new feature is the “Sleep and Charge” technology. This lets you recharge your gadgets such as an iPod or smartphone without having to open Windows. Even better, this next generation laptop includes face-recognition software, which used the laptop’s webcam to verify users’ faces for more secure logins.

The release is expected to be October 22 (the same date as Windows 7) and the retail price is suspected to be from £430 (great price for such an innovative laptop).

Is an “iTouch” laptop on the way?

By Billy the Ant the 28 April 2009

Rumours have been circulating that Apple is planning to dazzle us again, this time with touch screen laptops.  Apple is staying hush, hush on the situation; but, if you ask me, touch screen laptops do sound like the next logical step for the tech giant.

While we await Apple’s next move, we can catch a glimpse at the next generation of computers with Microsoft’s Surface and the iTable.  And don’t forget about tablet PCs like the new Dell Latitude XT2!

Expect Apple’s version of the touch screen laptop to be similar to Dell’s, but smaller and with more features!  I can’t wait!  Way to keep us in suspense Mr. Jobs!

    Netbook Asus vs. Vaio P

By Billy the Ant the 5 March 2009

Since its launch in 2008 the Netbook has caused quite some euphoria and we hardly know anyone who is not keen on getting one. In order for you not to miss the trend, here some advice on buying a Netbook.

First of all, what actually is a Netbook? In comparison to the classical Notebook (or Laptop) the Netbook is much smaller, lighter and therefore an even more-portable computer. At the same time it is much cheaper than a regular Notebook and therefore affordable for almost everybody. While reducing the weight it also lost some of its capacity but for that price most people are willing to accept this compromise.

Let’s have a look at two Netbooks in particular: the famous ASUS EeePC and the new SONY Vaio P.  Which one should you choose?

    ASUS EeePC 1000H

    Eee PC

    • The advantages: The EeePC comes with an 160GB harddrive, which is quite impressive for a laptop of that size. It has an Intel 1.6 GHz Atom Processor and only costs £325.* The battery lasts up to 8hrs!!!
    • The disadvantages: With its 1.33 kg is rather heavy for a Netbook and therefore not as convenient as it could be.

The latest model of the Sony Vaio series. Very small and most probably fits into every handbag of yours, perhaps even in a large coat pocket.

    • The advantages: with a weight of 650g it is a featherweight. It is equipped with a 1.33 GHz Atom processor, a screen of 8’’, a harddrive of 60 or 128 GB and Windows Visa pre-installed. The keyboard is small but still large enough to use it comfortably. It comes with a great design and you can chose among several colors to match it with your style.
    • The disadvantages: well not much can be said except that it is rather expensive with its almost £780.*

Now you need to decide what is more important to you: performance or price. That definetely won’t be the last time that you hear about Netbooks… At the CeBit Computer Fair in Hannover, Germany, ASUS already announced its next model: Tablet-EeePC with a touchscreen to come out around May 2009!

*(The prices are subject to change)
