So the Brit Awards 2010 are drawing closer and to get you geared up for the 30th annual show we are bringing you a spotlight on music from the nominated artists, including concert tickets and even DVDs from this year’s presenter, and one of Britain’s favourite comedians, Peter Kay.

The Brits are taking place on the 16th February 2010 at London’s Earls Court Arena, but will be broadcast live at 8pm on ITV1 for everyone who could not get their hands on those coveted tickets to the ceremony.

This year commemorates 30 years of celebrating the best in British music and so promises to be an extraordinary show including some amazing performances from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole and Robbie Williams. There are also some special awards being given out this year for the best Brits Album and the best Brits Hit from the past 30 years.
Robbie Williams is receiving an Outstanding Contribution Award this year, after his comeback this year to the music scene.

Robbie Williams will receive the Outstanding Contribution Award.

The Brit Awards 2010 is adding up to be one of the best shows ever! I cannot wait to see the performances. I’m sure there will be some more memorable moments, who can forget the Kylie and Justin Timberlake performance or Geri Halliwell’s union jack dress!

The iPod is the accessory to have nowadays! Storing music has never been easier but how about sharing it with others?

Thanks to the Easy iPod Media Sharer (available online for $99.95), all you have to do is connect it with two iPods and it transfers the songs or videos from one to another within a few seconds! You don’t even need to use a computer.

An interesting gadget if you want to extend your music collection without downloading from iTunes, but unfortunately a bit pricey…

Use Video Games to Reveal Your Star Quality

Popular TV shows like Pop Idol and Britain’s Got Talent made clear that there are many hidden stars among us. Especially the performances of Paul Potts and, more recently, 48 years old Susan Boyle old impressed the british audience…

Do you want to find out if you have any musical talent? Video games are the way to go these days! With WiiMusic you can play one of over 5O instruments and create your own music. To test your rockstar abilities, go with Guitar Heroes World Tour  or Sing Star!

Rhythm Heaven (promoted by Beyoncé) trains your rythm skills and shows if there’s any talent at all to work with. If you don’t master the instruments and have trouble singing, you could still try your luck with dancing: Dance Dance Revolution  (my personal favourite).

So do you have what it takes to become a star? 8-)

    Chameleon Guitar – 100 Instruments in 1

Are you a passionate musician who always dreamed of combining the warm and distinctive sounds of your accoustic instrument with the unlimited possibilities of electronic sound manipulation?

Amit Zoran, a Media Lab master’s student at the world famous MIT (Massachussetts Institute of Technology), might make your dreams come true. He invented the Chameleon Guitar, an electronic guitar that can mimic different instruments. It has a separate central section and the soundboard, that is removable and that can be switched with a variety of other ones. A different kind of wood can change the sound of the instrument completely and the electronic pickups on the soundboard can be manipulated by a computer to produce the effect of a different-size resonating chamber.

Buying a new soundboard is much cheaper than purchasing another accoustic instrument. Unfortunately, the Chameleon Guitar is still just a thesis project and not yet a commercial product, but that might change soon… We will definitely keep you updated!

    iTunes Songs

Apple announced recently that the standard 99c price per song on iTunes will be abolished and replaced by two different prices as of April 2009. The record labels will now be able to decide whether the retail price of each song shall be 69c or US$1,29.

At the same time iTunes plans to remove the copy-protection of the songs bought on iTunes so that consumers can now play the songs on mediaplayers other than Apple’s iTunes, iPods and iPhones. The conversion of old copy-protected songs into the new songs will also be offered for a small fee.

Btw. Steve Jobs is not deadly sick.  He recently squashed that rumor in a letter to the Apple Community.

Is the CD really dead ?

By anne the 1 September 2008

While the world was discovering new musical medium such as MP3, the world of Music was burying its CD cursing music’s dematerialization. So, 10 years later : is CD really dead ? Even if digital technology is overwhelming our lives and downloading websites are blooming on the web, some of our “old” habits haven’t disappeared yet. A study from Avail Intelligence shows that 51% of the polled choose compact discs as their favourite medium for music while only 25% would prefer downloading.

Let’s remember that lovely moment when you finally bought it, and ripped the blister off to discover those songs you’ve waited for such a long time. The book is just waiting for you : photos, lyrics and other comments that make you feel you’re just sharing a perfect and unique moment with the artist. According to the study, people keep on spending 15 euros a month to enjoy this simple pleasure.

Another figure to keep in mind: 80% of the Internet users don’t care about professional critics! However, 40% of them are more to trust advice coming from social networks. The same part of polled say they’d prefer to be advised by relatives or other web users…
What else than social shopping could it be ?
