Visual Search Engine - Cluuz

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

I have taken a fancy to Visual Search Engines and have now come across Cluuz. Cluuz creates links between search result terms and different keywords and puts them in relation. To test it I searched for “Letsbuyit” and got the following results with two different visualisation effects. Sometimes I don’t quite see the links or relationships nor how they have been created but it is visual nevertheless. I like it. What do you think?

Visual Search Engine - SearchMe!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

We have previously written about the cloud search engine Quintura. Just recently we have discovered a demo video of the new search engine called SearchMe! SearchMe visualises the search results with screenshots of the respective website and you can flick through the result pages similar to the image viewer of the Apple Iphone. SearchMe is still in beta but if the technology works out fine, it will sure be quite a good product because I find this navigation fantastic. The question is whether the search results will load fast enough and also whether the algorithms and search results are good enough but it will definitely be a refreshing change on the boring search result pages and give the competitors quite a headache.

SearchCrystal, a fantastic visual meta search-engine

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

A new search engine tool has been available for a few weeks now : SearchCrystal.
This online tool is a “meta search-engine” - it uses the results of a lot of different search engines, and displays them in a graphical and analytic manner: by cluster, spiral, lists or also categories. User can then use drag and drops and menus to specify the way of displaying the information so that the analysis is more relevant.

Let’s see what it looks like by default when we search for “LetsBuyIt”:

This tool can be very interesting when trying to get a complete panorama of the presence and representation of a brand or service among the main sources of data (Google, Ask, MSN, RSS feeds or even flickr images).
